Computer Keyboard

My keyboard has stopped responding The mouse moves the cursor but when I type nothing happens. Does anyone know what is wrong and how to fix it please?

Also, is it just possible that the keyboard has become disconnected from the computer?

Ah, so it's a laptop. If you'd mentioned that in the first place, I wouldn't have suggested that the keyboard might have become unplugged...

When you switched it off and on again, did you see a warning from the operating system that it couldn't detect the keyboard?

I've tried that when the screen saver a picture of some antelopes comes on it had got random questions about the picture ie what caught their attention

Try pressing FN + F6.

Right, try F N and F 7 together then.

I did it twice and two dots came up on my password box login

Which suggests that your keyboard is working...

maybe it's the mouse that is faulty and not the keyboard

I have got part way in and it says that it is recovering my account Thank you all for your help it is a step forward I'll come back if I can't get any further

I'm back in using my normal password I have an email from Microsoft account team giving me a numerical code to reset my password As I back on the computer using my normal sl password do I have to reset it
