Why No Landline?

Why are there more and more people(especially young people) with no landline? I don't understand how they function!

For that reason, very few people have my PAYG non-smart mobile number and those that do have it know that I may well not even hear it as it isn't attached to me like an umbilical cord. Also I tire of my kids phoning my landline from their mobiles when the reception is rubbish/they move into a black hole and the conversation stops mid-sentence. Or they phone while walking down the street in London when the traffic noise often drowns out the conversation.
Totally agree Hans. On the rare occasions when I need to send a text from home, I either have to go upstairs with my mobile and wave it out the window or walk up the drive into the road. Lots of people in this village have virtually no mobile signal in their house (and I'm not in the Scottish Highlands or anywhere remote!)
emmie, you don't need a landline if you have Virgin Media broadband.
You can also buy 'mifi' devices that use a data only SIM to create a wifi hotspot for connecting all your devices to the internet. These are getting cheaper, My data only SIM gives me a 30 Mbps download speed which is faster than many ordinary providers.

Can you provide a link to your Sky broadband, Eddie? The only thing I can find is this which states 'Line rental included'
