My printer is not working properly. Can I just put it out with the rubbish? I doubt if anyone would want it, you can get a new one for £30.

Are you anywhere near a recycling centre? There is a drop of point for small electrical goods at ours - think maybe a printer is best kept out of landfill?

IUt's under WEEE regulations for electrical items so you shouldn't really you're supposed to take to recycyling centre. Some places collect and refurb them.
Or leave it outside see if anyone picks it up......

When I ditched my last one, I managed to catch the dustmen to ask & they took it with no problem. I guess it depends on how helpful any particular bunch are on the day.

Each council will have its own policy on what their bin men (er, sorry, 'refuse disposal operatives') are allowed to take. However the safest thing is to take it to your local household waste recycling centre.

Alternatively you can take it to any store that sells electrical items, since EU regulations require that all such stores must provide recycling facilities.

Have a look online at your local council and see what it says there. We're in West Berkshire and I've always had a good, quick response to any emails I've sent to them re recycling.

We also have a refurbishment firm in Dundee which takes old computers, laptops, printers etc to refurbish. Maybe worth a call?

Our local scrappie precedes the bin wagon round our estate on recycling day - domestic appliances left by the bins disappear quite quickly - I left my elderly Dyson out the other week ... gone by 7:30am.

it is not worth it to buy a cheap printer. i had 3 hewlett pacard printers and they broke down after a short time . i have had a brother DCP-0130C for about 10 years now and it is still working (i'm crossing my fingers and touching wood that it keeps in good order)!. if you go on IJT website you may find printers that are free, if you by inks from them.

Have to agree with Buenchico, the Canon Pixma is an excellent printer, I have the MG5751, it will print on card too fed from the back, as well as thinner stuff from the front.
