Today I was distracted. I'd not heard from my elder brother in N.Y. for over a week...this is not like him. I kept checking my phone for emails. Even if we don't exchange long "letters", we still send odd bits...he always sends me articles dissing the current administration. But I'd had nothing...and no reply to my email of several days ago..
At the start of our weekly meeting at work, I discovered an email from my daughter. It was titled "my dad"...my first thought was, "what has he done now".
It was a forwarded message from one of my nephews...my brother took ill over the weekend. Collapsed or fell...so they had him admitted to hospital. He has minor pneumonia, very low BP...apparently normal for him...edema, and a number of other issues. But, he's improving very slowly. I can't contact my SIL until late...their evening. So hopefully I'll get more info then. But I'm worried...a lot.

It must be very difficult being so far away, hopefully you will get some good news soon xx
Not to worry. I had exactly the same symptoms 6 months ago. I don't know how old he is but I recovered in about three months.

Of course you're worried and distance adds a helplessness, fingers crossed for a better update for you.x

I feel VERY helpless mamya.
I want to cry, but all that will do is make my already stuffed up nose worse...:-(
Save your tears for now, I hope you won't need them for a while yet.
I see. I'm 'only' 69 but I was in and out of hospital last year 6 times due to falls and LBP. My major concern is that when I fall down I cannot rise to my feet so need an ambulance. This is why I rarely leave the house.
Fingers crossed for you all, Pasta.
Hope all is well Pasta. Don't freak yourself out.
Big (( hugs)) Pasta. The not knowing is horrible. I'm sure he's in good hands. x

It's not knowing that hurts, isn't it. I hope that his family keep you updated, do they have your email address?

Cuddle Caspar for support - it feels good to cuddle a cat. x

We are on WhatsApp, and I've got my nephew's phone number as well + SILs.
My DD is being a very sensible voice of reason...and telling me not to worry. I'm trying.
Sorry to hear this Pasta, I hope he gets better soon, so you can stop worrying.
Fingers crossed all will be well xx
Pasta I will pray for you both
Important bit is that he's improving. We can all get problems and brought low, but the important bit is pulling back out. Try not to stress for that which isn't confirmed, it's additional worry you don't need: hold on to the better news you've been given.
What time will you be able to contact your brothers family pasta ?

I just heard from my SIL...she said he's got a bad infection, but has eaten a bit today. I assume she's at the hospital now so will contact her again around midnight or so. Thanks so much everyone for your good wishes.
Bit late catching up with this. So very worrying anyway - even more when distances are involved. I'm thinking and praying for you all.
:) x
