got a toshiba flat screen tv. .
my prob is i turn o ff the tv and video
about 10 clock night time
but it .starts up at midnight
leaving the the tv a very snow.y pic
any ideas why it does that

Maybe you are putting it on standby. Are you turning it off with the remote? Could you unplug it/turnoff the walls witch

PCs, TVs etc can activate if left in a Standby' mode. Unless you have programmed your Video to record at night, make sure that Vid & TV are turned Off at the mains( Wall socket)

if it is left on standby rather than shut down then perhaps there is other microwave or whatever on the same frequency around turning it on ?

Do you have an alarm awakening set for midnight ?
Check all settings anyway.
