...for O2 customers.

Just had a run-in with O2 which has been resolved to my satisfaction.

Received a text from them yesterday to say that I now had a 'bundle' comprising 5000 texts, 3000 minutes of calls and 10gb of data, all to be used by 17th October. For this they deducted £25 from my balance.

I complained on 4 grounds:

1. I did not request this

2. I calculate that to send 5000 texts would take me 400 years

3 Even I cannot talk for 50 hours

4 I don't have a smart phone so data is no use to me.

I rang them, and to my utter surprise got straight through. I couldn't understand the full explanation, as is usual when you ring Asian call centres, but it appears that my credit balance was so high that I qualified for the deal.

Anyway, the status quo has been restored and I now have my £25 back.

Just be aware of what can happen behind the scenes.

Do you think this is just another type of scam to get money out of you? Got to be on your toes these days. Had an email from Avira asking me to go to paypal to renew my cover for another year. "Another"? never had in the first place - delete.

What gets me is that I have been with 02 PAYG for 15 years and never had a problem. I rarely use my mobile unless I am out and need to ring a taxi, which is not often. Also it is not a smart phone so data would be useless. Obviously vigilance is the watchword but I am disappointed that this has come from what I hitherto considered a reputable company.
