if you use a file explorer on the phone, you can go to whatsapp folder
inside is a folder called media/whatsapp images..all pictures are in there then find a pic long tap copy or move to ? any where you want
dcim folder for example or make a new folder.

Can you explain in as much detail as possible, exactly what you're trying to do please.
I don't fully understand what you're trying to do, as WhatsApp is a messaging service, so you can't actually download a picture to WhatsApp - you use the app to send pictures, videos, etc to other people.
You say you want to download a certain picture?? What exactly are you trying to do with it??

i am trying to add a picture/photo to my profile on whatsapp. The fact is i have part of the way, but when i open up my contacts, the picture doesn't show.

is the photo saved to your phone gallery?
if so, in whatsapp go to settings (tap the 3 dots, top right hand corner) in settings tap on your picture, you'll see a circle with a camera pic in it, tap that, it will ask you to select a gallery or camera, select gallery and choose the pic you want.

thanks, will this show up on others phones, as i can't see it under my own name...
my brother set up a group with just the two of us, his pic shows up fine but mine doesn;t.
when i look at my profile the picture is there, does any of this make sense.

.... if it isn't, then go to your AB profile page on your phone. Press and hold on your profile picture and one of the options will be "download image" which will save the image to your phone.

it does make sense - in settings go into account, then privacy, then see what your profile photo is set to , it auto defaults to everyone but maybe its set on no-one?

find the picture. Hold a thumb on the picture "save picture" or, go to three dots, and "save picture"

Go to whatsapp, edit profile, edit profile picture, choose file from phone gallery.
