Facebook, Apple, Google, Intel (and businesses not mentioned in the article such as EBay, Netflix, Uber and Airbnb) are based around the Silicon Valley of San Fransisco. So many companies in such a small space.

A clue might be that it's situated in the USoA.

Clustering of like companies is not uncommon. There may be practical reasons to be somewhere due to local conditions, physical or political. And being in one place with rivals attracts customers a single place where they've lots of choice, and so you enjoy the same level of attention. It also drives the desire to be better than the nearby rivals which improves products/services, plus the local workforce are likely to have the skills you wish to attract because there's so much choice of employer. etc. etc. etc.
