I use a Sky email account and the above message is appearing more frequently. If i log into email via sky email is fine but on phone, tablet or via outlook on laptop i get this message once or twice a week, it will occur for maybe a day then emails will start again. Any one else ( apart from my wife) have the same trouble or know how to sort please before i ring sky?

The first trick is to go into your phone's main Settings menu and then Accounts & sync and simply remove the Google account that is getting the "authentication is required" error.
