Because i got a new router and new password my Canon printer no longer
works. It took me two days and several conversations with Canon engineers
to get it to work. Looks like unless someone can help me on here
i may have to do the same, but has anyone any quick method of making
the laptop and printer compatible. I am no techie by the way.........
Yo first need to connect the printer to the router. Most modern routers and Canon printers are equiped with the automatic "connection" ability WPS. Firstly press the WPS button on the router and then, within 30 seconds press the WPS button on the printer. Wait until the router has all the lights back on and the printer should be connected. Yo may have to enter...
Does your router have a WPS button on it? It should if it's new.
If so press the wifi button on the top of the printer the the WPS button on the router and they should connect.
Do you have the printer manual? If not what is the make and model and we can look for instructions online
the fact is i am no techie as i said, canon's advice was in no way helpful. will look for printer WPS, whatever that is, would it be at the back of the printer....
The WPS button is on side of the router, no wonder i couldn't initially find it, and the printer WPS button is on the panel on the front, and i really didn't know what it was till i pushed it.
Well done Emmie and thanks. I have been out for a spell and had not looked in until now. I seem to be missing the letter U on my keyboard but will have a look for it now I have had a sit down after getting a bit of a walk under my belt.
