When I open the materials palette the white swatch has a beige tinge to it but when I hover my mouse over this swatch it shows R:255, G:255, B:255.
I cannot seem to adjust this so that the white actually appears white on my screen.
This makes it very difficult to make minor colour adjustments to photos. The colours on the resulting printed photos do show white correctly.
What have I done and what can I do to correct it?

First, check the connections to your monitor.
Have you calibrated your monitor? If you go into "Color Management" in "Control Panel" and click on the Advanced" tab there is an option to set the colour on your screen.
If whites are showing correctly on your monitor outside of the Paintshop Pro workspace then the colour profile being used by PSP is inaccurate.

There are Color Management options within PSP and detailed usage for the version you are running are accessible from the in-app Help.
