Poor picture quality on new TV

I have just bought a TV and DVD recorder (a 28" screen, value is 420) and installed it per instructions. I can only get 3 channels and quality of these is very poor. The lead I am using to connect to the outside aerial is quite old - could that affect it? I previously used a portable TV and got a great picture! Any ideas greatly appreciated!

try changing the aeriel cable. The quality does diminish as the cable gets older.
...did you look at all the channels after the Auto set up? They don't always show as 1 2 3 4 5..........look at all the numbers up to 100 or whatever your tuner gives. Mine invariably have to be re-assigned to use the remote to select 1 2 3 4 or 5.

If you had good pics from your old set with this aerial then there is no reason why it won't work with the new set, unless you pulled the wires off the plug when changing over. <G>

The tuner itself in your t.v may not be as strong as in your portable

You could try an Aerial booster to improve the signal
