I have bought a long cable (2metres)to charge my iPad,
It cost me £10,when I tried to use it,it says not charging,
It’s charging fine with a shorter cable (1 metre),
Has the length of the cable have anything to do with it not charging?
It is possible but unlikely. It's much more likely it's a faulty cable or, as Tilly suggests, it's not properly connected. Try re-connecting it or use a different source for the power. Do you have a different device you can try charging using it?
Bhg481,I will try a different power source and if it doesn’t work I will take it back next week,
The strange thing was the shopkeeper and I were discussing watch batteries from China,he reckoned that they were rubbish, and wouldn’t recommend them,
Maybe his cables are rubbish as well.
I bought a couple of curly leads for my wife's phone - it needed a USB-C connector. Using one of them we found that the phone wasn't charging unless you fiddled with the connector; the other works with no problems. A faulty cable is favourite but worth trying other options first.
Voltage can drop along a cable, but i3have my doubts that it should affect charging. I reckon that the longer cable may have an internal connection issue. Or maybe communication between iPad and charger isn't getting through. Certainly it needs a refund or replacement as it's proved unfit for the job.
Thought it was only right to give an up date,
I went back today to say the cable is not charging,
He plugged it in to his socket, came up as charging,
There you are says he no problem, waited 10 seconds then sign came up not charging,
After 5 minutes of trying he admitted something was wrong with the cable,
Do you want another one?
What’s the point if it’s not charging,
Very reluctantly he gave my £10 back.
