I'm using gmail, and having a problem accessing embeded links. If I click on a link that appears in an email, i land at the google search page. Its a new issue, started this week, but its consistent with all links and both of my gmail accounts.

Could I have switched something off by mistake?
I have added a new account recently.

I'm not sure what a software 'wersion' is, tho.
Does the issue persist if you right click these links and for example "Open link in a new tab" ?

Oh gosh sorry Zacs!

I'm on an oldish iPad 2, accessing my gmail. I use safari to browse the internet, what else might be relevant?
Its the advice given at the top of the technology page, maydup, not my own words.
One thing that I can think of is when opening a link, your Apply Ipad will instantly try to use safari (the browser). Depending what or where these embedded links come from it might just throw out to a google page because Safari might not have access to the link?

That's a stab in the dark though

Do you have any suggestions now you have more info Zacs?

Thank you The Devil

If I copy the link and paste it into browser I get to the correct place. I have tested it on two seperate emails and works OK both times like that.

So what might I need to do, to tell gmail to talk to safari again, like it has been doing happily up until recently?
I suggest you turn your Ipad off and try again.
No, maydup. I simply encouraged you to provide the information to assist you in obtaining a more accurate answer.

I've been and switched off, full to the apple logo and switched on again but nothings changed. The landing page is the google search page with my gmail account logged in top left. I can copy and paste the link into the google search, but still no direct connection.
Question Author
I've waded through settings on gmail and safari, but cant find anything relevant.
Are you using the Gmail app or the built in Mail app?

Is it links from different people or the same person?

Try sending yourself a link and see what happens.
Question Author
I'm using built in gmail and the same thing happens from different senders to two different gmail accounts.
Mail is built in, Gmail you get from the App Store.

Try setting up one of your accounts using the Mail app.

Then try the email with the link in it from there and see what happens.

Question Author
If gmail is an app, then thats what I've got. One of my email addresses is @gmail.com the other is a work address via google mail.
have you tried just reloading gmail?
Before I suggest removing and reinstalling Gmail app is why I suggested setting up the Mail app.

That way if there was any issue in reinstalling Gmail, Maydup would still have email access.
Question Author
I've deleted the app and reloaded it from the app store. My accounts are all intact, but still clicking on a link takes me to a google app search page.

Anymore ideas from anyone please?
