Printing Documents On An Ipad Mini

Trying to manage without my laptop. But how do I type letters from my iPad mini and how can I get the font to be smaller? Whenever I print from my iPad the font is enormous ....

I don’t have an app installed on the iPad for documents. When I print emails or anything in Notes the words are huge. Just a thought ... I have read that Windows 7 will soon be obsolete or similar. Would I still be able to use my Open Office on this old laptop for writing letters? And would I still be able to save photos on the laptop? As you can tell, I am not technical at all. Which is the best app for letter writing for the iPad?? Many thanks
