Outlook Express problem

I received an email with an Excel document attached which needed some more information input in to it. Instead of saving the document to my computer I just opened it and started to input the info that I needed to. As usual I kept saving my work as I was going along but I now can't find the saved amended file. I can find the original one that was attached to the email but not my amended one. Hope that makes sense.

I'm using Windows XP Home by the way. Thanks!

Can't you just use the "search" button, under START to find it?

Thanks, but I tried that with no luck

I just assumed that as I was saving it that it might be leaving it somewhere inside my wee machine

When you open an attached document in EO, it creates a temporary coy in the "Documents and Settings\<Your User Name>\Local Settings\Temp" folder (or a sub-folder of that).
It almost ceratinly won't habe its original name.

At least in theory, at least, the file will be deleted when you close it, but it would be worth doing a search on this folder (making sure you have Search Subfolders enabled.

If you find any .xls files, you can examine them to see if they are the one you are looking for.
Sorry - too much red wine.
By EO, I meant Outlook or Outlook Express, and you can ignore at least one of the "at least"s
I've had similar problems at work with saved files burying themselves deep inside many nested folders. Rojash's advice is sound but I'd suggest running a full search on *.xls just to check that your spreadsheet hasn't ended up in some very strange place on your computer.
