Limewire

Would you recommened limewire? Have you had any viruses, and if you don't recommend it what would you?

I personally wouldn't recommend limewire. I've had more worms and viruses from this particular program than any other. Particulary within zip files. thankfully I have a pretty good antivirus and firewall. I generally use kazaa or failing that bearshare is pretty good. They all have their good and bad points, but limewire seems to have more bad in terms of viruses. Hope this helps.

Can't say I agree with Posie. I've used Limewire for ages, and never had any nasties.
Couldn't be without it, personally.

Just a point on Bearshare - it runs on the same network (Gnutella) as Limewire, so you're likely to see the same search results.

i also disagree with posie. i have been using limewire for ages now and have had no virae as of yet. i used to use kazaa and the amount of virae that i got was phenomenol. bearing in mind that this was before i used any firewall or virus protection. when i first scanned with norton i had like 70 virus'.

I tried to use it but just as I get to the final bit it says that my security settings are too high and I am reluctant to proceed. Maybe I should just do it ??

I've also had no problems using Limewire but did with earlier versions of Kazaa.

I can't recommend limewire enough .It definately has fewer viruses then kazaa and kazaalite which i used to use and it doesn't suffer the poor download speeds that bittorrent clients tend to

As with all p2p software just be wary of the files you are downloading and if in doubt scan the files you download before you open them.This in itself should reduce any problems you may have with regards to viruses etc
