dell laptop w10 my prob is laptop plugged in not charging getting this % avaailable plugged in laptop boots up ok works ok when plugged in just wondering why it does not charge tia

Almost certainly a dead battery.

Have you checked the cables and plug. Sometimes they stop working

yes i have checked cable and plug their is a red light showing on the charger thanks again

Many laptops have batteries that can simply be unclipped in a matter of seconds. Others are far harder to deal with.

What's the exact model number of your laptop, please? (It's probably on the label underneath it).

when i open the lappy its reads 17 3000 inspiron

Bad news, I'm afraid!

To replace the battery, you need to remove the optical drive (Section 6, page 17, below), then remove the base cover (Section 8, page 21) and finally remove the battery (Section 10, page 25) before inserting a new battery and putting everything back together again:

It might be best to start by contacting Dell UK Support to ask them whether a 2-year-old battery really should be dead: 0800 587 1456 (0900 - 1700, Mon to Fri, calls are free)
