Landline Telephone Handset

I have a twin Panasonic KX-TG6801E. On 1 of the handsets the phone book entries are out of sync with the relevant dial button. Example, if I press 3(DE & F)I get the listing for GH &I.Likewise, button 9 (WXY & Z) gives me AB & C. Is there a simple remedy please.

My first and only thought is take the batteries out for a little while and put them back in.

Beyond that, I have no Idea.

Thank you so much, removing the batteries worked, both handsets now fine.
