Renault Clio 1.4 battery

Hi, i've got a renault clio 1.4 n-reg (1995), the battery died a few days ago (due to some really cold weather), i have managed to disconnect the leads but the battery won't come out, i think its held down by some clamps but i cant see how to get it out so i can charge it. The manual is useless too; doesn't explain anything. I think its got a cat converter if i'm careful can i bump start it without doin too much damage to it?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, even if its only an educated guess!

There could possibly be two restraining clips at the base of the battery which are probably bolts - very fiddly usually. Beyond that years of crud could be just making it stick to its housing! Not much help - sorry - but a possibility.

At the base of the battery there will be a clamp holding the battery down, it wil need a 10mm or 13mm socket, ratchet and a extension bar, it is probably only a piece of plate steel approx; 3 x 2 inches,

bump starts are a no no if you have a cat. there is a strong risk of un burnt petrol entering the exhaust system and this is what ruins the catalytic converter.

Be careful, buy a Haynes. If you're going to bump start it then reconnect the battery, fully charge it (as much as poss). If you try to bump start it then it's only doing the same as the starter motor. If it doesn't start on the first throw, read the manual about prolonged use of the starter motor. It's only when the continual use of the starter motor or bump starting is throwing amounts of unburnt fuel down the exhaust that you have to worry about the cat.

sure, u can bump start it and it wont damage your cat!
