Paypal on Ebay
9 Answers
I'm so bleedin annoyed with Paypal I could scream. My daughter's bought some stuff off Ebay this afternoon and clicked to pay by Paypal as usual only to receive a message from them that she has reached her sending limit and that we now have to wait for a code to appear on my bank card statement to increase our sending limit!
Now the sellers are asking for postal orders which will cost us extra because it's quicker than cheque payments.
What is with Paypal? I know they're trying to improve security but why not send us advance warning, say within 50 of this sending limit being reached to sort things out instead of when we've purchased items and the sellers want payment within 3 days.
Has anyone else experienced this? I didn't even know there was a sending limit. AAARRRGGGHHH!
Sorry to rant on, I just needed to get it out of my system before I send Paypal a very rude email.

They aren't asking me to submit any details apart from this 4 digit expanding code which will appear on my next statement but I will take another look at it to make sure. We've been using Paypal for ages now with no probs but they've really peed me off with this carry on.
If you don't have a bank account registered with Paypal you do indeed have a sending limit. It is all explained in the terms & conditions which you should have read when you signed up (you have to tick a box to say you have, so you wouldn't have a leg to stand on if you tried to claim you didn't know) and you will have been notified of this limit when you first signed up. Registering a bank account is very easy, free and perfectly secure and removes all sending and receiving limits. When I first joined Paypal I ran up against a sending limit too, but since registering a bank account I've had absolutely no problems whatever. It should be an almost instantaneous process and you should then be able to pay your seller within his/her time limit.
Thanks for the info Narolines. My daughter done all the signing up processes and trying to get the right information out of her is sometimes like trying to get blood out of a stone. Teenagers! I always receive any emails to do with Paypal but we joined up so long ago that any email to do with a sending limit would have been deleted ages ago. It just would have been nice to receive a reminder to avoid my daughter stomping off to chuck cushions around her room and me getting a tension headache!
I have the same problem a few months ago.I think the limit I had was 49.99.As long as each item I purchased was under this amount, I could buy as many as I wanted, but if the item was 50, I was not allowed to buy it.I had to go through exactly the same thing as your daughter and had to wait for an amount of money (usually between about 1-2) to appear on my account. Then I had to enter this amount into the paypal security set up, and everything worked fine after that.It was just a pain having to wait a week for the amount to appear on my account.
