I have three individual G-Mail Accounts.

When I open my G-Mail, the 'second' account opens as the default.

I want it to default to the 'first' account.

Can anyone explain how I change it please?

Is that for your multiple AB accounts? ;-)

Seriously though, are you opening it on a app or browser?

Ha ha!!

I'm not sure - Luddite than I am!!

I have an icon on my desktop, and click it to open my G-Mail - does that answer your question?
A quick internet search indicates that the only way to change the default account is to sign out of all accounts, then sign into the account that you want to be the default. Then add the other accounts.
The answer above is corrrect for a browser, first one you log into will be default. You may need to clear out the residual data in your browser first though.

I am not sure about the app though (on you phone)
yeah and me please
worse.... if you are under acct A and wish to transfer out of that and into acct B
It sort of creates a door from A to B with its own password

so B has two passwords now depending on how you get there
