Could be a number of reasons.

Have you installed a new app recently.

Check the processes running Windows-key -> Task Manager and see what is taking the resources.

Thanks for the quick reply.I seldom use the pc,so I've added nothing at all since I last used it.

maybe if its not been used for a while it will be updating and installing updates which does make things slow for a while maybe a few hours depends what its downloading and how fast your comp is
