This could be my most stupid question to date but I need to know!

I have had my mobile phone a few months, I've been very pleased with it (RealMe GT2).
I have just noticed not only a fairly large black dot in the top left corner of the screen and can see and feel a hole in the glass slightly larger that a pin head.

Online research tells me this is the front facing camera 'punch hole'. I can't find anywhere if it should literally be a hole that I can see and feel.

I can't believe that I haven't noticed it before. I noticed because I was inadvertently holding the phone upside down and couldn't close the page as the dot was covering the X.

I'll just find my dunce's cap and a stool

The hole-punch camera is designed to be made unnoticeable by its placement at the top of the screen where it is hidden by the status bar. The screen does not have a physical hole, however, the screen protector is normally designed with a hole to maximize photo quality.

Thank you, the status bar at the top of the screen is the same as the rest of the screen, not a dark strip like some phones have.
Could a setting have changed that removed the dark strip and that is why I have only just noticed it? I can't remember
For the avoidance of doubt, it was me rather than Barry who removed FoodRollt's posts here - initially for nastiness and sarcasm and then for vile language.

The language was bad enough for me to then suspend FoodRollt.

Thanks for the excellent answer, PsalmEquipt.

Thank you, luckily I didn't see the posts.

Thanks for clarifying it wasn't me.

The manufacturer has likely included a setting to hide the camera. Once in settings search for the word "hide" to see if the setting exists.

I'll have a rummage in the settings, thanks.

I really thought my phone was damaged somehow when I first noticed it 🥺
