Wisbech Save The Children. Connecting...

Quite recently I've noticed my laptop becoming a bit laggy, so I've done the usual things to help try and identify the culprit.
I've reset my router - that didn't help. My missus' laptop seems to be okay, so I'm guessing that the problem is with my laptop rather than the internet connection itself.
I've rebooted my laptop a zillion times - no help.
I've done a virus/malware check - nothing found.
I've cleared all of my browsing data - no help.
I'm using Chrome, but I just tried using Edge and that's just as bad.
I've flushed the DNS - no difference.
I've reset the tcp/ip stack - no difference.
I'm running out of ideas now .... any advice please??

It's a bit late for first-footing, isn't it? Anyway, I've not got any coal 😊
Start by running CHKDSK:
Type cmd into the Windows search box.
Right-click on Command Prompt and select Run As Administrator.
Type chkdsk and hit Enter.
That might find and fix any relevant problems. If not, it's probably time to reset Windows:
