Have tried all the things you suggested to get rid of the pop ups, but I am driven mad every couple of seconds with critical error warnings etc. When I check the firewall I have installed there is nothing wrong. Thanks in advance.

I used to use Pop-Up Stopper, which did the job perfectly well, but since moving over to XP Pro, found that there's a built-in one ready and waiting. In the Internet browser window, select Tools, then Pop-up Blocker, and make sure it's activated. I've had no trouble at all since using it.

Sorry, I didn't see the earlier suggestions you mentioned, hope I haven't repeated what's already been said.
