You can still buy simple mobile phones that are designed for calls and texts only. These are cheap to buy.
Smartphones are really pocket computers, can cost from under £100 to over £1000 and can be confusing to set up and use.
When you buy any type of phone you can buy it outright, without a contract. These are called SIM free phones. You choose a separate SIM card, not necessarily from the same place you buy your phone.
If you buy a simple phone you need a SIM card for your phone call minutes and texts.
If you buy a smart phone you will need a SIM that provides data minutes for you to use the internet when WIFI isn't available.
If you tell us what you want the phone for we can go help you choose a good phone and SIM card.
You need to tell us how much you use the phone, too.
Henry, as you only want it for calls and texts this might suit you

We still need to know how much you use the phone. Are you a chatterer, long frequent calls or just occasional user?
