My Freeview Recorder has finally given up the ghost so I'm looking to get a new one.

Any recommendations?

Yes thanks bookbinder. Thats a good site and I have been looking at it, but it's more personal choices I was hoping for.

Best of luck with your search, ILA!

If I needed one it would be the Humax Aura 4K 2TB, my TV is 4K.

Whatever you decide to buy don't dilly dally, they are getting difficult to find

I have a Humax and a Manhattan. The Humax has 3 tuners, so can record 3 programmes at once; the Manhattan has only 2, which is adequate most of the time. The Manhattan is my favourite; it's easier to delete the rest of a series you've recorded if you find you don't like it and you can also un-delete stuff, if you want.

My last one was a Humax and served me well. I just wondered what others had and what they thought about them.

barry, I didn't realise they were getting scarce. That does surprise me.

bhg, I was looking at the Manhatten. There is a new one (4-r I think) coming out anytime now I've heard.

Thanks for your input.

They are getting scarce due to the popularity of streaming

Streaming is not for me unless I'm desperate - you have to pay to avoid the adverts (except on BBC).

ILA - the new Manhattan was due before Christmas and is delayed for some reason. I looked into replacing mine when I had a problem with it but doing a reset cured it.

Streaming, of course!

Not for me either.

I think I'm heading towards the Manhatten.

I'll be in Richer Sounds tomorrow so I'll see what they have and what they recommend.

I dislike streaming and love my recorders - I record everything I want to watch on commercial tv and skip through the adverts and the chaff on many programmes.

barry - exactly what we do. Even record BBC programmes so that they're on when we want to watch and not be tied to their schedule.

ILA - there has been some sort of delay on the new Manhattan and the old one has become difficult to get hold of. It's worth visiting the Manhattan web site to see if there's any availability information on there.

We love our Manhattan - so versatile. We rarely watch advert channels live so we can fast forward through the ads. We can record 2 progs at once and view a live prog on the TV via an RF lead.

If you haven't sorted your recorder yet, I just got an email from Manhattan saying the new T4/T4R is now being shipped to retailers.
