Ipad Pro Overheating

It's getting on a bit now but even when only used for browsing the internet it gets very hot after 20 minutes or so.

Any idea what's causing it and how to rectify it.

I don't use it whilst it is charging

It may be doing software updates - that can make mine quite warm at times?

If not, is it just running a lot of processes? Swipe away everything (so that it is running no apps at all) and then force a hard restart with the appropriate buttons (not from any menu).
