Driver's Licence

I am awaiting the above and I need to have it by 13 September - my fault a bit - I sent for it a bit too late.  I sent the form about two weeks ago.

Anyway if I don't receive it by then am I not allowed to drive - I am thinking then my tax and insurance wont cover me.  Thanks for any answers
