There are many available photo-editing programs that can do this using a tool called "clone tool" where, with both photos side by side you can copy (clone) part of one image onto the other. You would need to ensure sizes and formats are similar but it's quite straightforward.
Choose a photo-editing package (you might find a free one (with a scanner or digital camera for example) with this clone tool.

....mmm...even the free Paint program which comes with your pc will do that.........Open Paint, then open the picture you want to superimpose and select the part you want to use.....Then press Edit/Copy...... Open the background picture and then do Edit/paste........move the pasted part around to where you want it and save your new pic to where you want it......
When you close the originals don't save the changes if asked.

Pitstopbunny, which photo application software are you likely to be using - there are some good free ones out there? However, Paintshop Pro allows you to Copy and then Paste in three ways (V.5):- As New Selection, As New Image, and As Transparent Section (even As New Layer if you're using layers). Most people recommend the free Picassa or The Gimp.
