Dual Sim Phones

I have used the dual SIM facility whilst abroad for extended periods, using a local SIM card for local calls.

If I used it at home how would it work? Would I have to keep swapping between the two SIMS to check for missed calls/texts etc?

It'll depend upon which type of Dual SIM phone you've got.  Some phones are 'DSDS' (Dual SIM, Dual Standby), where only one SIM card can be active at any time.  Others are 'DSDA' (Dual SIM, Dual Active), where both cards can be active at the same time.

Unless I misunderstood the question, using a SIM for a local area abroad while here in the UK may result in roaming charges. Or have all that been removed and the extra cost subsidised by normal users these days ?

How has it worked when you were abroad? Did you have to do any swapping between the SIMs? I have a pretty basic dual SIM phone that I have used with a UK SIM and a foreign SIM and both SIMs have connected to mobile networks simultaneously and incoming/missed calls/texts were the same for either SIM whether I was in the UK or abroad.

OG, when I was in Spain I used the Spanish SIM to call and text Spanish phone numbers and access mobile broadband.

I have a different phone now, I'll have to find out what sort of dual SIM it has.  Thanks all
