I should like to know if any UK journalist, or similar writer, has investigated the reasons for these people wanting to risk all to come to the UK. Why have they come? Why are they here? What do they expect to achieve? What was so bad about their home country that they wanted to pull up their roots and come here? What can they do now?

Not just the UK, other European countries are also bearing a financial burden, Germany 50bn euros per annum if this report can be believed

Quite a few of my Nigerian friends have been removed from the UK recently due to over-staying their visas.Some have been querying why they are being forced out of the UK and those who have arrived illegally are allowed to stay?Its a query i couldnt answer.Anyone know?

It's a lot easier to deport foreign nationals who have overstayed their visas. They aren't claiming asylum

Neither group has any entitlement to be here. For some reason the government has chosen to lavish money and gifts on those who arrive by rubber boat, putting them up in hotels and providing them with legal assistance for them to challenge any moves to expel them.

@19.13.Surely there are laws preventing people entering the UK illegally?Has it always been thus,just show up on our shores or airports without visas or passports and you are allowed in.Does British law not apply to these chancers?
