Connecting monitor to computer
2 Answers
I have a large, very heavy 7-year-old CRT monitor (Brilliance 201B) which still works perfectly but I don't need it now. It was expensive and so I am reluctant to scrap it. Before I go to the considerable effort of carrying it down two fights of stairs, into the car, out of the car, and up more stairs, can I be sure it will work when I connect it to someone else's PC of similar age to the monitor - assuming I don't drop the damn thing in the process?
What I mean is: will substituting this monitor for the other PC's small monitor require some difficult 'installation' process (on the receiving Compaq PC which has Windows 98), or will it simply work straight away (like a piece of hifi equipment does when you connect it up).
I am not too good with computers - I expect to be able to plug them in and use them as tools to get jobs done and not to have to understand how they work and waste hours and hours dealing with problems (which tells you something about my age, and also why I scrapped my Windows PC and bought a Mac).
Any help would be gratefully appreciated.
