i would like to upgrade my digital camera but it seems such a waste if I don't buy one using c/f so where do I find out or do i have to do it the long handed way

unless you have lots of money invested in large CF cards, don't buy the camera just because it has a CF port.

go for one that does what you need, and if it has CF then all the better.

btw, a lot of the canons have CF ports.

but I already have a few big cards and the point was that , why go to E.G. a Fuji and start buying different cards
yea, I understand. But its cheaper to get a good camera that you will get the most out of (maybe using a different format), than to go for a camera that has a CF port, and most of the features you want, or all of the features you want and a load more.

If you've invested that much then stay with CF (and get a good card reader rather than use a lead?). For specifications of cameras and reviews etc. look here:-
