picking up a neighbours internet connection!

I live in an apartment block and am sure that someone must have wireless internet that i can pick up with a usb wireless adaptor. How do i go about doing this? Thanks!

Yes, it's illegal. And even if they do have wireless internet, if they have some braincells then it'll be encrypted to stop you from getting in.
Wireless adaptor should automatically scan for any wireless networks that are in range. If they are encrypted though, you'll need to get your own internet connection.

My laptop picks up 4 different wireless networks within range, one of which is my own (assume the others are my neighbours). ALL are security enabled to stop anyone else using them.

Its easy enough to do if its not secured - just use view wireless networks through Windows and then if you find one listed highlight and press connect.

I strongly advise not to do this though as you are using someone elses bandwith and many of them are capped nowdays.

Just because the network is unsecured does not make using it right, after all you would not borrow a car just because the owner left its keys in it.
