Rojash, when I saw the question that's exactly what I was going to say. Doesn't it make all the difference?! Although to be fair to the questioner, if his manner is any indication of his intelligence, someone really should help him out. I could try, but I'm not very skilled with electrics so I'll defer to someone who is.

As far as I can remember a "ring" is the circuit going from the Consumer unit (fuse box) around all the plug sockets on one level of the house and back to the consumer unit. Making a ring (or loop)

You would normally have a seperate ring for each level of the house, so if there is a fault and the fuse blows, there will still be power to other sockets till you find the fault.

I recently re wired the house and had a ring main for the ground floor, 1st floor, attic, kitchen and shower, and 2 seperate ones for the lighting.
