1800 viruses?

my friend has been online for some 6 + months without any security protection at all , so i ran a panda av activescan and it found and quarantined 1800 viruses- surely that cant be right?

I did the same for a friend and found over 600 after just 1day.

This is why you should ALWAYS have protection running -
anti-virus, firewall and anti-spyware.

There are plenty of good freeware ones around - so don't take risks.

Oh yeah, it only takes a few minutes for an unprotected PC to become infected on the Net... it's literally sending out messages like "hello, I'm here - anyone there". Imagine what that looks like to all the viruses roaming around out here?!! A good firewall will effectively 'hide' the computer from the nasties ;-)

It's nothing short of a miracle that your friends computer is still working tali!

Panda is extremely trustworthy. Since I began using it 4 years ago it's stopped endless 'nasties' and now comes complete with Firewall, but I'm sure there are others just as good.
