I'm a bit puzzled - both my vcr and dvd recorders are single tuners, but I can record a different station on each of them whilst watching a third.

That is anologue tv though.

I can watch or record one digital channel and two anogue channels at the same time.

Does all your tv programmes come through a freeview or sky box?

Thanks Ethel, this is the model I have http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=48572&&source=14&doy=search It's Freeview with a hard drive which allows you to record up to 40 hours of tv. You can play back a recording while recording something else, but you cannot watch one channel while recording another.
...mmm...as it is a single tuner machine you can only record the Freeview Channel you are watching your link says this...

Q) You say this product has a single tuner. Does that mean it cannot record freeview and analogue programmes or does it mean that it can only record the programme being watched? Or, does it mean both these things? - Tony
A) it can only record the channel that is selected

...that is from the link you gave.....

As for a accessory needed to record one digital channel while watching another there is one "accessory" you could use.....another Freeview box..........they are pretty cheap at the bottom end and can be fitted into you set up with the right leads...............commoner.
