How many mp3 tracks can fit on 1Gb and 2Gb ?

Dunno, but it depends on the bit rate of the mp3 and the length of the song. The majority are 128 kb, but they can go higher for better (if your hearing is THAT good!) quality.

Personally, I use mp3 pro's set at 96kb, which offers the same or better quaility than an ordinary 128 kb mp3.

Assuming the 'usua'l bit rate of 128 Kbps and an average track length of 4 minutes, a 1Gb player holds about 250 tracks. (500 tracks for a 2 Gb player).

if the encoder is set to high quality and you want to make the most you can go as low as 32 kbps in mono and not notice much providing the encoder has the quality setting not to be confused with the bitrate setting. this setting can make the quality better but the computer wil take a bit longer to encode it. 128 kbps is 1 MB per minute so go figure 32 kbps is 250 KB per minute you choose. I use it at at work on my player and it's just fine but with all the surrounding noise I would never notice very minor defects
