Surely the company you have bought the domain from should do this on your behalf ?
Not sure how, but would be very surprised if your computer was up to acting as a server 24/7 and if your ISP allowed you to run it as such.

But if it's within Windows then it's within the Network properties of your LAN connection.

Set the specific IP address and mask. I would imagine you would point to your ISP's DNS servers.

Whats your PC's IP ?

If you have a static IP address and you want to use your own PC as a webserver, FTP server etc then all you have to do is tell the company you got the domain from to change the DNS entry for that domain to your IP address.

Usually takes about 48 hours for it to propogate around the world and then thats it.

Hope this helps.

Jen

P.S. If you want to use your PC as a mail server tell them to also add an MX record.

Sorry forgot to mention, on your PC if you have a firewall you will have to set it up to allow inbound traffic on certain ports, depending on the services you are going to offer, a quick list is -

80 - HTTP (for Websites)

443 - HTTPS (As above but secure)

21 - FTP
