Hi, I have some downloaded files that are on my laptop that I want to transfer to my home p.c, they have wireless connection through a linkskey gateway at the moment, I am sure that you can network them to share files , but have no idea how to go about it, if I need to connect via a cable , could anyone please tell me what I need to get?

Thanks in advance

The easiest way to do this is via a USB Key, see here

This is a solid state device (no moving parts) that plugs into your USB slot on one PC, then you copy the files to it, then you plug it into the other PC and copy files from it.

They are not that expensive and you can get sorts of sizes, 256Mb, 512Mb, even 1Gb or more.
