How can I upgrade my PC to a Media Centre xp? and how much does it cost in total?

I think you can only get it pre-installed onto a machine. You can't buy an upgrade CD. You need to get a machine from Dell, or someone, with it already on.

Strictly speaking, it's only available on new machines. However, if you were to build your own new machine, you would become the Original Equipment Manufacturer of that machine, so allowing you to buy and use OEM software.


You need something like this, all perfectly legal and above board provided it doesn't arrive on an old no-name CD-R!


You'll still need a remote, there's one on eBay, or maybe you can use one from an Xbox 360.

Personally,Id hang fire as Windows Vista arrives later this year.
