Marantz SR5200 amp - no sound from sub?!?

I bought the Marantz SR5200 amp a while back and hooked it up to my CD and DVD played and all is fine. I now wish to connect my sub up but it only works when i take S-Direct off. I want to run it with S-Direct and ive checked the set up Sub = Yes but nothing comes out of the sub - anyideas?? Also when i play DVD's i get the LFE box appear. Anyideas how i can remove this?? Ive taken night mode off but it doesnt do anything. Any ideas??

i've got a SR5200 and have had no problems to be fair. The S-Direct mode shouldn't affect the sub so not sure why it's not working, probably worth getting it checked out.
