do I need special software to send faxes from PC. Used to do this when had home Highway now broadband not sure - daughter in Spain has new fax machine and asked me this

Yes you do but most computers made in the last 4 years already have this installed.


Go to start, all programmes, accesorys, communication, fax and see if it's there.

I am sure that this doesn't work with broadband.

You need to use your internal modem and plug in to the phone line, the old dial-up way.

Thanks folks have followed link and andyrathbone instructions but doesn't seem to have worked. As Ethel says its probably due to broadband

The easiest way is to get a cheap modem and use the phone line as detailed in the article (unplug the modem when not in use to avoid potential problems with phone dialers). There are "internet fax" services if you Google. I use eFax, which used to be free (they are changing some of their pricing), but I'm sure there are many more.
