MP4 converter

Boy it is cold in this house!

Can anyone suggest a good MP4 converter that is free. I have purchased two and I just can't get to grips with them and I want to watch films on my ipod!

you'd better supply more info. mp4 is the standard but not the format unless you are refering to "nero digital" that uses mpeg4 (the full name for mp4) technology. for a free general purpose i would suggest divx but as you make specific reference to ipod the you'd better check what formats it supports
