"Control panel" then "Sounds and Audio Devices"

Choose the "Sounds" tab

Scroll down and find "Windows Logon"

Then "Browse" for a different WAV file

Do the same for "Windows Logoff"

You can find loads of WAV files on the web. My daughter loves Friends and I often change her logon to a quote from Friends.

Question Author
vehelpfulguy, thanks for your help. Do you know if there is a way to extend the amount of time the .wav file plays. It seems to be a default of about 2 seconds. but I would like to extend it to about 5 seconds. Is this possible.
