DVD-RW and DVD-RAM are just two different formats. Remember back to VHS and BetaMAx videos - well DVD-RW and DVD-RAM are just the same just different digital formats.

I guess if you want to play the DVDs you record on another DVD player in the house, you should endeavour to find out which format that DVD player can read as some DVD players will only play one or the other.

ok, so what does it mean by "Recording standards"?? THis is what my DVD recorder says: -

Playable Discs: DVD-RAM,-R/-RW/+R/+RW
Recordable Discs: DVD-RAM,-R/-RW/+R
Recording Standards
DVD Video Recording Format (DVD-RAM), DVD Video Standards (DVD-R)

From what I can understand - I can copy onyo DVD-RW, but the formating is DVD RAM....confused!!!!
