Hi everyone, Ive got a Sony STR-DE697 7.1 AV Reciever and when I play DVD's it comes on the LCD screen "DOLBY DIGITAL 3/2.1". Ive had AV receivers before and its always said DOLBY DIGITAL 5.1 and not broke it down into 3/2.1 is this because its 7.1 or is it just not set up correctly? Can anyone help??

Hi Homer55, having only bought Pioneer home cinema kit I cant give you a definite answer. It seems its just a variation on 5.1. 3 meaning the front speakers plus the centre, 2 meaning the two rears and .1 being the subwoofer. I would just pop in a dvd and see what your ears tell you. Try a disc you are familiar with. When I put a dvd in, the amp automatically senses what audio is contained. Have you got any dvds with 6.1 sound? I dont think theres many about! Good luck.
