Internet Linking
2 Answers
My pc in my bedroom has the internet (8mb dl/2mb ul) and i have the net as im the net user, gamer, msn'er etc... mum has a pc in the living room she uses for photo editing etc, but she also would like the internet for the odd occasion she wants to use it, and id preffere to keep her out my room. i got a free wireless router with my internet upgrade (just in case this comes in handy). both are desktops. can someone please tell me (bearing in mind im on a budget and she wouldnt need top spec equipment to access it, as it would be an infrequent thing) how would i go about linking us both to the internet, enabling us both to get online at the same time, and also i preffere to be linkied via cable, im not a fan of wireless (but that wouldnt matter for hers). sorry about the lengthy question =)

you'll have a modem connected to your comptuer right now, yes? hopefully with an ethernet cable, which looks like a thick phone cable (same type of connections). all you have to do is connect the modem to the wireless router, and then get a cable to go from your router to your computer.
then as ethel says you can get a wireless adapter to fit in the other computer:

you have a few things to check first though: make sure your modem connects via ethernet and not USB. if it connects via USB you're probably better off buying a wireless router+modem in one (making sure you buy either ADSL or cable as neccessary). if you need to buy another ethernet cable, go for something like this one:
